Nehemiah’s memoir teaches important lessons about people.

Perhaps you saw this article in our local newspaper, “Pilot finds black snake during fight to Ohio. Quote:

“Monty Coles was 3,000 feet in the air when he discovered a stowaway
peeking out at him from the plane’s instrument panel— a 4 ½ black
snake.”

This really gets good…

the kids of faithThis morning was missions Sunday at Faith – After our traditional procession of flags, we were treated to the cutest kids on the planet dressed up in traditional costumes from dozens of different countries.

After that, we heard from Justin and Heather Gort, as they shared their vision for Mormonland, where they are serving as recent graduates of Appalachian Bible College.

The sermon, which you can download an .mp3 of here, was delivered by Tim Coleman of Sat7 ministries, and got to hear about the great things that Sat7 is doing in the middle east.

Nehemiah 2:1-10

”Honey,” a wife said to her husband, “I want you to know you are a model husband.” Understandably, He was quite flattered. Basking in the compliment, he happened upon this definition in the dictionary…

“model…serving as or capable of serving as a pattern or example…“A
small imitation of the real thing.”

“You Can Make A Difference” is a series about a man who is a model…one serving as a pattern or example…. Who enjoyed success at every level of his life.

Several years ago, I pulled up on my motorcycle at a stop light on Harper Road. Unbeknownst to me, a group of our church teenagers and their leaders, were also sitting at the light, returning from an activity.  Donned in leathers, full helmet and sunglasses, I was pretty much incognito.

Straight Talk on Temptation

Our pastor thanks us for all the gifts for his 20th anniversary at Faith. This week’s service was more surprise than sermon – for two special members of our church.  Pastor Larry and his wife, Mary celebrated their 20th anniversary at Faith, and the entire service was dedicated to praising God for their faithfulness and service.

Several members spoke of their admiration of the pastor for his loving heart – and for 20 years of working “as unto the Lord” for the people of Faith Baptist Church.

The music was uplifting, and the pastors were showered with love and appreciation.

You can listen to a podcast of the service here. (.mp3 format)

After the service, the whole church migrated over to the cafeteria at Appalachian Bible College for a thank-you luncheon.  The only thing better than the fabulous food was the family time.

For more pictures of the day, check out Faith’s Photos.

Also, somebody *coughJimFritzcough* put together a montage of photos from the Halsey’s twenty years of service.  Click here to see a cherubic Larry Halsey as a young minister, doing what he does best!  Loving us!

                                                        Acts 2:42

”Spiritual Pediatrics” is today’s subject.  Acts chapter 2.

In the 1950s, Art Linkletter hosted a TV program called, “House Party,” in which he interviewed young children.  On one show…

*He had a three-year-old on a stool with a microphone in her hand, sitting
 there swinging her little legs.

“What do you do in the morning?” the host asked.
“I help mommy fix brekfast (breakfast).”
“Really, what do you do to fix breakfast?”
“Well, she always lets me put the toast in the toaster,
but she never lets me flush it.”
